Ice Ice baby....

We have a good time continuing our snow theme. You know, I have to say that since we have had such a mild winter this Month, it is hard to think of icecicles and ice skating when it is 60 degrees out, but we having a blast no matter what.
We have ice skated, learned about activities we do in the snow, Icecicles and it's only Tuesday. Whew!

These are the supplies that funshine provided for the iceskates .
I just had to provide Glue, hole punch and markers/ crayons. So easy.

Whala! Iceskates .
One of the activities in the funshine curriculm was to pretend to iceskate using wax paper. We had so much fun doing this. I even iceskated myself. That was funny. The kids thought it was.
Maybe , just maybe I will post the video.
I posted it on Instagram and my Facebook page if you REALLY are dying to see it.

Yesterday we played a really snowflake game. I would put a certain number of snowflakes on and then take away or add some and then ask how many.
I love just telling them to play however they want and Lena decided to play hide and seek with the animals.
We also made a name snowman.

Fun with colored ice and plain ice

Lastly we explored a globe to see where
North and South Pole was because it never gets warm there.

There you have it! Busy bees we are.
Next week we start Febuary fun!

Snowmeggen

This week was filled with snow fun! It would have been better with snow on the ground, but we can't really tell Mother Nature what to do.
We made fake snow cones and they still looked really good.
The snazzy snowman that we made, were the cutest and as soon as the girls were finished they went right into a puppet show. I got it on video and posted it below. It is so fun to hear the things they say and adlip.

One of the days we watched a cute video   Three little kittens who  lost their mittens and worked really hard making mittens of our own and then hanging them up to dry.

Lena enjoyed sorting some Mitten erasers.

To go along with the mitten theme, we read the book, The Mitten.

I had suggested that we try to fit into the mitten I had, but that did not go over so well. "We cannot fit inside a mitten, only animals can ."  Ha! I had a mitten game from a few years ago, so we got that out and played memory with it.
The girls have really been into the themes and wanting to know what we are going create that day .

Water colors are such a fun and easy thing to work with . We used water colors  to make "snow cones". Lena was pretending to lick hers. "Yummy"

My goal is wanting to  do more science and hands on with them, but it really depends on the day and the mood of the kids.😁
Some days it would be great, other days , not a chance. Funshine has so many other fun activities that I really want to dive into.

We also learned the sign Language for the word snow. Funshine always includeds 2 sign language words.
I try to review them every so often.
Well there you have it, our week learning about snow. Come back next week to see what fun things we are into .

You can always follow me on Instagram to get a sneak peek of the activities @coleykidscreations and like my Facebook page.

C ya next  week .

The end of the road...

We reached the end of our wheels theme. The kids loved this theme so much, I almost wanted to extend it longer, but I knew funshine had another great theme for us to jump into.
We finished the week with some neat projects.

The book of the month was Truck Stuck and the kids wanted me to read it everyday. So I did. It is an easy and simple book with great pictures and  easy concept to understand.
I cannot take credit in finding the book though. It came in the Fireflies kit. I love that I can keep these books for the future and if it's a favorite, I can display it out with our books for theme related activities .

Funshine always adds in a creative free art activity and this week was sand writing or drawing
There was so much the girls could with the sand.
They wrote letters and stick figures and shapes .

It was unseasonably warm last week so we took ourselves outside and rode cars outside.

I will have a ton  to post about with our next theme.
I have posted a link of a video I did of my kit contents.

Wagon wheel Wednesday

We had a wheeling of time learning about wagon wheels and more wheels.
Today we learned that wagons are a way of transportation.
"They transport dolls and lots of toys. We can go fast and pull our friends. "
These were things I heard when talking about wagons.

We made these cute wagons . I think these are  so cute.

Another neat idea from the fireflies kit was making a bicycle tire. We used strips of paper and glued them in a center of a paper plate and then put a black sticker in the middle . I love all these creative
ideas.

I enjoy how it's the same process with everything, but each one looks different . I show the kids an example, but then leave the creativeness to them.

I wanted to add in a few pictures of the littles, when we do curriculum. They are so darn cute!

Give them some books and they will be happy reading.

When we are finished playing a math game, I always  leave it out for them  to play it again, but sometimes I catch the kids using it in a different way.

We will wrapping up the wheel theme this week, but are excited to jump into our next one.

Cars,trucks and more

The kids have really enjoyed this theme.
Transportation is always a fun theme.
With funshine express curriculum they always have a shape of the month and color of the Month.
The color this month is white and the shape is octagon.

One of the activities we did was rip white paper and glue the peices on dark paper to make the white stand out.

On the go was the math game this month . I love how easy and simple the games are that come in funshines kit.

Lena and Kaelis had fun playing it.
Since there was only 2 players, they would switch the vehicle they were playing with.

After the math game we made a stop sign to in force the safety rule of stopping at stop signs and because it is an octagon.
We enjoyed a game of red light green light using our stop signs
.

This week we also enjoyed making these very cute beetle bug cars.
That is Elsa driving in the picture. Ha! Gotta love it.

Since M is the one the letters we are learning this month, we explored with magnets and cars.

Whew! We have had a busy week, but so much fun!

I post pictures about our day on Instagram. You can find me at @coleykidscreations

The wheels keep on turning....

Happy first Monday of the new year! We are ready to get back into the swing things after our break. We are feeling refreshed and ready to learn!
One of the  Funshine express themes  this month is wheeling about. Wheels, big, small, fat, tiny. All kinds of wheels.
I love car and transportation themes. There is so much that can be done.

Today we introduced the letter M and what things start with M.
One of things I pulled out Of my stash was a Map. Since smartphones and GPS became a thing, maps are a thing of th pass.
I had a map of Missouri , since I well live there. We studied it and found the city we are living in. The girls thought it was so cool that where we lived was in the map.

I decided to take the kids on an adventure and drive some cars on the map.
In the funshine  express curriculum , for math  was to compare different size wheels.
I picked vehicles that would be easy to compare size.
Lena had mentioned that the different wheels make different tracks. It was a great observation that flourished into the way tires look.
One of the games that came with funshines curriculum was a card game where I laid the cards on the table and asked the kids to pick up the cards that have things with wheels on them.
The pictures were a little challenging at times when I asked them how many wheels each item had. When I got to the wheelchair, all answered 1 wheel. That is all they saw, so is googled a picture of a wheelchair and showed it had two.
Kaelis said "oh that is tricky"
That was our day with a few things in between.
