Goodbye teddy bears

Today is our last day of teddy bears and boy will the friends be sad. We have enjoyed all the activities that Funshine express had us do.
I am so thankful for Funshine express and the way the curriculum teaches the kids so many real life facts and sometimes I learn new things as well.

It was a sad day when our teddy bears got sick. We have had the tummy bug going around and our teddy bears got it.
So I got all the doctor tools out just like we learned about it.
The kids worked so hard on their own teddy bear book. It is amazing how proud each child is with how their hard work paid off.

Amelia is showing me that she found a match of a sad boy and the matching sad bear.

We had so much fun with teddy bears.

I did something different with the sorting bears each day. We sorted in felt, played with playdough, used tings to sort. Each day the kids were excited to explore something different.

Teddy bear puppets

We have really enjoyed all the fun things we have done with teddy bears.

Teddy bear puppets was one of the creative art activities.
We colored the teddy bears and added brown tissue paper for the fur.

The next step was to glue them on a paper bag and add a bow.

Coloring is one of their favorite activities.

After we finished putting the puppets together, the kids enjoyed playing Teddy Bear ,Teddy Bear turn around with them. Some played peekaboo with them.

Another activity from Funshine express was these Teddy Bear,Teddy,Bear story prop.

We looked at the motions first and tried to figure what they were before reading the song.
After a few times of repeating the rhyme, the kids knew what movement came next.

Teddy bears

We are sharing our classroom with teddy bears this week.
We have observed that their are a lot of different kinds of teddy bears . Small ones, big ones, different colors and sizes and even shapes and texture.

I always enjoy looking through Funshineexpress book list. Reading is one of our favorite times of the day and with so many options, we can read a new one everyday if we choose.
Teddy Bear , Teddy Bear had been a favorite. It is an action book and the kids look forward to what moves comes next.

It's simple and short and that is perfect for a toddler circle time.

The bears decided they wanted to go on picnic, so the kids set up a nice picnic area and made sure each bear had food.

Sorting is also a simple way of learning beginning math skills, patterning, colors .
One to one corresponding.
We did some sorting by using spoons to pick up the bears. Next we will use tweezers.

One of the creative arts activity was to make a textured bear.
It was textured by using soft felt paper for the face and a noodle for the nose. Wax paper for the belly, cupcake liners for the ears and black stickers for the eyes.

We hope the teddy bears have a lot more in store for us!

Finale

Well it is getting closer to Valentine's Day and we have enjoyed learning about hearts and Valentine's and the color pink.

These cards come in the  Funshine express buttercups curriuculm. They are great for open ended questioning. I hang them up and keep them out and every now and then I see the children point to a picture and have a conversation about them.

The children enjoy playing with cars and since we are talking about hearts I thought it would be fun to make a track that leads to a heart.

Since we explored what a valentine is and it is usually somebody we are friends with , we practiced rolling the ball and taking turns with our friends.

Felt is such a fun way
to interact and learn , so we practiced sorting hearts .

Cupcakes and pink

The theme continues as we enjoy baking in the house area and sorting cupcake liners.

In the Funshine express curriuculm, the physical development was to fill the tin.
This activity focused on fine motor and math.
Love the deep concentration of sorting the cupcake liners. We also counted while putting them in the tin.
The kids also sorted the cupcake liners by color as well. They stacked them, they sorted, counted them.

Since it is Valentine's Day month, we are focusing in pink and hearts. Hearts and pink was the theme of our heart mural. We used heart shape doilies, small foam hearts, pink paper, pink markers and crayons and hot pink paint.
We observed the different colors of pink and the shapes.
Shades of pink.

Feburary is also dental health month  and Funshine express had a really cute matching game.

A bunch of sweetness

We are all getting sugared up with all the baking that is going on. The Funshine theme for 2 weeks is sweet me.
I added some baking tools to the house area and the kids have had a blast baking muffins and cakes and pancakes. Feels just like home.
The creative arts activity was making pretty pouch. The first step was to make heart prints in the paper plates , but with toddlers going with be flow is key, so they decided to just paint with heart cookie cutters instead. We did learn that red and white make pink.

The next step was to cut the remaining paper plates in half and those were the pockets. We glued and then taped for extra stick on the bottom if the painted plate.
Gluing hearts on it was the completion.

The finished product!
We look forward to making a cupcake and doing lots of sweet things.
