Zipped it close

This week we finished our fasten up theme.

Since it is fall now, we learned about leaves, leaves changing and falling off the tree.we made these cute little Mr. Leaf puppets. The girls enjoyed dancing around with them to leaves are falling down.

These cute autumn headbands as well. There is so much to do with leaves. Pattern, look at them through a magnify glass,  color sort, collage. Lost goes on.

Buttons was one of the fasteners we were learning about and Funshine express included this button match memory game. I just set it out and observed what how they played it. The girls turned them over and just found matches. We observed the shapes, colors, how many thread holes.

Lydia is working hard on placing the leaf stickers in her bracelet. Another fastener. We fasteners it on with a sticky tape.

Next week are starting dinosaurs. How fun the kids will have!

Shoe laces and apples

It is starting to finally feel like fall! Yay! This week we are finishing up our fasten up theme and taking about shoe laces, apples ,buttons.

Creative arts had been a lot of fun with all the ideas Funshine express has.
One of the activities was to practice cutting and cut out a shoe shape and then fasten it up with shoe laces. This helped develope fine motor skills with lacing and cutting and persistence.

Each month Funshine express includes a character critter. The past two weeks Pier the persistence peacock has been helping us with learning what persistence is.

Monday was Johnny Appleseed day! He is a lot of fun to introduce. Just put a bunch of seeds in a pan and put it on your head! They loved it.

We made a cute Apple surprise activity.

First, do you notice the elephant eating the Apple ? Cuteness! We sorted apples by size and color.

We have a few more things to wrap up before we start our new theme on Monday!

Zip it

I first want to say, what happened to fall weather? It's 90 in Missouri today.

Anyway, just had to vent that out.
The theme we are learning about right now is fasten up. All about fasteners.
Today we learned about the zipper. Some are different colors and sizes. Some are easy to do, others are not.
We practiced zipping a coat for fine motor. The friends enjoyed zipping and up and down.
Today for creative arts we made a sweater zip holder.  We Stapled a sweater pattern on either side of the ziplock bag. When the friends open and close it , they unzipping the sweater.
I am slowly introducing cutting and Amelia did a great job cutting out the pattern.
Toddler busyness while I did curriculm with the older two.

Every month Funshine express provides a simple math game that coordinates with the themes.
This one was a race to the playground equipment.
The friends would roll the cube that had numbers 1 and 2 and then move the counter that number of spaces . We counted the spaces before we began to see how far we had to go.

C is for cat.

Happy Monday friends! I hope everybody had a great one.
Last week we were busy finishing up our count on me theme.

Today I introduced the letter C.
We learned that C is for coffee(my favorite)cup, cow, color and crayons.

In the Funshine express fireflies curriculm, there is an alphabet card with the letter, a picture and sign language.
Today we made a C is for cat picture.

Last week we learned about an artist named Georges Seurat. An artist is introduced for fine arts Friday .
Georges was known for his way of using just tiny little dots to create a picture. I has no idea there was such a kind of art and am thankful for Funshine express to teach me as well. This type of art is pointillism. That is a new word for me!

We enjoyed doing our own dot painting using Qtips.

We will start our fasten up theme this week and next. We learn all different ways to fasten things and different fasteners. Cannot wait to see what Funshinexpress has planned out!

"Bee" your best

We have been really focusing on being there for our friends and getting along and making good choices. We have focused on helping our friends and being able to count on them.
I can tell such a difference from last year to this year. They understand  better, they know more, it's easy to problem solve, with that being said, they catch on to certain things quicker.
In creative art yesterday we made a bee your best flower. I have them choices of words and asked if these were nice words or mean words.  For example, friendly, nice, kind, healthy, helpful, loving.  We talked about these being nice words and that they need to work on being these things .

The letter B is the letter of the week. We took a tour of the room and looked for things that started with the letter B.
Today we looked at the lowercase b and discovered it has only one circle instead of 2!

Today we made count on me sign (door hanger)to let everybody know they can count on them.

Next week we will be starting the Funshine express  theme is fasten up. All the ways things can be fastened and having fun with zippers, buttons .

I have an Instagram account @coleykidscreations and now that we  are in a routine  and have settled on, I will do insta stories and post pictures.

Letter A and buddy puppets

This week has been filled with a lot of A's and apples.
We learned about the letter A this week. We compared the big A to the little a. We also discovered that they make different sounds with certain words . Apple sounds different than Ape , but they are still A.
Did not go into great detail because you know, they are 2 and 3!
We created an apple with the letter A.

E

I  am also doing something different this year. I have added the weekly reader to the day. It's just a fun different activity.

In the Funshine express curriculm, they also provide enrichment worksheets or journal pages. I choose the enrichment worksheets. Some friends are tracing the letter A and circle the item that starts with A.

We will still be in the count on me theme next week!

Have a super weekend!

Count on me

September is when all the new themes start. The theme for the next two weeks is count on me.

When the friends walked in this morning, they noticed that the calender was blank, there were zoo animals instead of a forest . One friend also  noticed that the arrow on the weather was brown instead of orange!

Since it is a new school year, Funshine express includes a new themed letter, shape and number background poster , new calender Peices  each month and a new weather chart.
One of things I like this year, that Funshine did not include in the past is word wall. We could print them out , but sometimes that did not work out. I love how they are already to go and ready to hang up song with the word wall banner.
Today we made Look, it's me mirrors.
Every time the friends would look in the mirror they would say "look, it's me" we made different expressions and observed what our eyes looked like and our face features.

Every month, the kit comes with topic cards. This is the help topic card. It has the Spanish word on the back. We discussed what help meant, what are the children helping with in the picture.
We talked about ways our friends can help each other and our parents and teachers.

We had a great start to the weekend!
