Wrapping up I am healthy

I cannot believe we wrapped up February themes already.
Today we finished our I  am healthy theme.
We have learned so much about staying healthy.

We learned about the  and the four food groups.
The girls worked really hard creating their own myplate.
They both noticed that sugar was not a choice. 😊
You can go to Choose myplate.gov and look at the four food groups plate.

We ended the week with shaving cream and flood coloring. Funshine provided the tooth shape and toothbrush. I put food coloring in shaving cream and Lena and Kaelis used the paint brushes to paint. They LOVED this activity. They just kept painting their tooth.

That is it for us this week!
Come back next week for all about Dr.
Seuss. It's almost his birthday and we are going to have a little party!

Me, myself and germs

I  am healthy theme is a great one. It's easy, but gets the point across.
We have a jam packed last couple of days.
Funshine express always has extras that we can print out, that go with the theme.
This diagram was really easy to understand and detailed. It was really good for my younger group who are still learning body parts.

The growing flower activity was so fun to do. We measured our bodies and then decided how many strips of paper we needed. They both counted 5 strips.

Yesterday we talked about germs. I am a germophobe so this was yucky for me, but someone has to teach!
One of funshine activities for science was putting glitter and lotion on my hands and then shake the kids hands to see how quickly germs spread. After I school Lena's hand, she said " yuck now I have your germs cole." We discussed house quickly germs can spread. We washed out hands to see the germs come off when we did.

It 's really neat to see how much they really soak up.
I decided to get the microscope out and look to see if we could see our germs on our hands.
Conclusion: we did not, but this did lead into looking for germs with a magnify glass.

We used a straw to make germs and then added eyes!

Funshine express has the best ideas. I  would have never thought of using glitter and lotion and I am a preschool teacher!
Thank you funshine !

I am healthy

We have been busy learning about how to take care of our body and our teeth.
The kids and I just had our dental appointment so it was perfect timing.
Funshine had so many neat activities to do, I cannot wait to see all that we are doing!

Today we made the cutest mirrors
Lena loved looking at herself in the mirror . She discovered she has green eyes,a pink and healthy tongue and no teeth missing .
One of science activities in the funshine curriculm was to poke a hole in an apple and watch what happens. The hole represents decay.
The kids keep asking to look at it.

This game was so fun.  I Layed the pictures of good and bad food face down and had the Lena pick one up and we  discussd if it was a good food or bad food and what tooth it went on.
It is amazing how fast kids pick up on things. It's fun watching their little minds pickup up on things and really think about it.
This was the math game for the month and the girls played with it for awhile. I love how Kaelis used her one on one correspondence to count the dots.
That has been our busy week!
Remember you can see sneak peeks on Instagram @coleykidscreations . It is amazing how many people I have connected with my blog and Instagram. So many ideas and I love sharing funshine express wih others.

In the mail cont...

Happy Monday!
I hope you all had a great weekend.
We had a great time finishing our weeks  learning about the post office and where mail goes.

One of the creative art  activities for the funshine activities last week was making these cute postal carriers visors. The girls loved wearing them.

So sometimes I have to let the control side of me let loose. For example, I had the mailboxes all set up in post office station and the friends were enjoying it and having fun. The next day, the novelty kinda was wearing off and so Lena decided to take the plastic figurines and put them in the mailbox to pretend it was their  hiding  spot.  Play is so important and using their is imagination is so important so I embraced the moment and let the imagination take off.

The shape and the color of the month in funshine curriculm is a heart and pink.  Fine motor is such a important step in development. Stickers are great for fine motor with all the peeling and sticking.
The kids used their fingers and stick heart stickers on a heart.

This game was the math game in the curriculm this month. The cards had numbers in them and the little mailboxes I front of the houses also have little numbers. Match the numbers and that is that. It was fun and the friends played it several times .

We had a hoot of a time making out owl bags. I also added rose petals and heart erasers and heart cookie cutters in a tub for a sensory table.
One of the other activities in the funshine curriculm was looking for different eyes and cutting them out and comparing them. We discussed the eye color, the size, the length of the eyelashes.

These heart glasses were the cutest prop for such a cute picture.
That wraps up our in the mail theme
And are ready to jump into I am healthy.

In the mail

Happy Tuesday. Hope you have had a great week so far.

We have started our new theme , In the mail. This is another favorite. There are so many things that can be created through imagination.
Yesterday we learned about Mr. Groundhog and why it's called ground hog day.
Kaelis and Barrett loved making the groundhog hiding prob.
Kaelis was singing
"Hello Mr. groundhog, where are you?"
"Are you going to see your shadow, I hope not."
I could not help, but laugh.

What? You haven't heard of a pink groundhog?

Today  was filled with post office goodness.

Delivering the mail was the book of the day. It was all about what a mail carrier does , where he/she delivers mail at.

The post office was in our room today.
I put mailboxes, a date stamp, envelopes , letter stamps and valentines to mail.
A little trick I do, is I try to set up a dramatic play activity in a hard suitcase and that way everything stays in one place and then when the kids finish for the day I just close the lid.

Well there has been our week so far.
