Hatching eggs

We are excited to be back from spring break. We are still learning about bunnies and chicks.

One of the activities that Funshine had listed in the curriculum guide was hatching eggs.
All the supplies came with the curriuculm and all I needed was glue and crayons.

One of the colors we are learning is blue and the shape is oval. I provided blue water beads(which are great for sensory) and plastic eggs. The kids enjoyed outing and scooping.

Part of Funshines curriuculm is to learn opposite words.
I always try to get creative when teaching the opposites. I decided to get the tunnel out and practice going in and out. Every time they crawled in, I said "in" . I did the same thing with out.
After a few times, I heard "I am going in"
I would always follow with the opposite word.

We have been enjoying learning about hatching and ovals. When we go outside, we always go for an oval hunt.
Come back later in the week to see more fun chicks and bunnies activities.

Bunnies and chicks

The kiddos were busy making bunny and spring things last week. We are enjoying spring break this week, but we disk lots of work last week.
In preparation for Easter , we made jumping bunnies.
We stuffed white paper bags with news paper .
We put glue on the the bunnies and glued them on the bag.
We folded  Peices of fabric paper into bows. Added elastic for the bouncing.

Funshine included a cute game.
There was a cute song we sang when we played it.

Sung to the tune of "ten little Indians"
One little, two little hungry bunnies.
Three little, four little hungry bunnies.
What can we feed the hungry bunnies.
Give this bunny a crunchy carrot.
Give that bunny a crunchy carrot.
Another one wants a crunchy carrot.
This bunny wants one, too.

The kids had a so much fun feeding the bunnies.

More fun

We are still enjoying yummy in my tummy.
We worked on a st. Patrick's day placement.

We are learning about the opposites open and closed and Funshine included a really fun activity. There are pictures of open things and the kids find what is underneath the closed pictures.

Along with eating, we learned we need to wash our hands before we eat.

We observed the washing hand picture and discussed how to wash our hands and sang this song while we wash.

Sung to the tune of "if your happy and you know it"

Wash your hands, wash your hands with some soap.
Wash your hands, wash your hands with some soap.
Wash them often everyday
So wash the germs away
Wash your hands, wash your hands with some soap.

The kids wanted to sing it over and over again.

We will be on spring break next week, BUT, we worked really hard to learn about bunnies and Chicks and did some fun activities, so I have plenty to post about.

Grocery store fun

Imaginary play is one of the big reasons I teach preschool. So much learning and life skills can happen in just a few minutes of play.

Since we are learning about healthy foods, one of the activities in the Funshine curriculum was to change dramatic play into a grocery store. I added grocery bags, a cash register with a scanner and boxes of food. It is so fun to watch them play. I can tell some of the words come from hearing mommy or daddy at the store. Watch out parents, they listen!!

The friends enjoyed using orange marker on paper to use as the carrot and then green tissue paper for the top.

Check out the cute video we did(because I LOVE getting them on video) of the 2little  carrots chant we did.

Yummy in my tummy

We are off to a great start with our theme, yummy in my tummy.
There are a lot of things in the Funshine express curriuculm and I cannot wait to get started.
We have talked this week about good food and bad food. Heathy and unhealthy.
I gave each friend an age appropriate magazine and we looked for yummy food and then yucky food. The conversations that developed during this were priceless.

The color for 2 weeks is blue. On the book list for Funshine the book above was one of the books. It shows all shades of blue.

So of course we had to explore with blue water. They thought it was so neat how the food coloring changed the water to blue.

The first creative activity was to make a good mobile. This was really fun to make and took some simple detail. Lots of steps to do and they all worked at every single step.
