"Bee" your best

We have been really focusing on being there for our friends and getting along and making good choices. We have focused on helping our friends and being able to count on them.
I can tell such a difference from last year to this year. They understand  better, they know more, it's easy to problem solve, with that being said, they catch on to certain things quicker.
In creative art yesterday we made a bee your best flower. I have them choices of words and asked if these were nice words or mean words.  For example, friendly, nice, kind, healthy, helpful, loving.  We talked about these being nice words and that they need to work on being these things .

The letter B is the letter of the week. We took a tour of the room and looked for things that started with the letter B.
Today we looked at the lowercase b and discovered it has only one circle instead of 2!

Today we made count on me sign (door hanger)to let everybody know they can count on them.

Next week we will be starting the Funshine express  theme is fasten up. All the ways things can be fastened and having fun with zippers, buttons .

I have an Instagram account @coleykidscreations and now that we  are in a routine  and have settled on, I will do insta stories and post pictures.

Letter A and buddy puppets

This week has been filled with a lot of A's and apples.

We learned about the letter A this week. We compared the big A to the little a. We also discovered that they make different sounds with certain words . Apple sounds different than Ape , but they are still A.  

Did not go into great detail because you know, they are 2 and 3!

We created an apple with the letter A.

I  am also doing something different this year. I have added the weekly reader to the day. It's just a fun different activity. 

In the Funshine express curriculm, they also provide enrichment worksheets or journal pages. I choose the enrichment worksheets. Some friends are tracing the letter A and circle the item that starts with A. 

We will still be in the count on me theme next week!

Count on me

September is when all the new themes start. The theme for the next two weeks is count on me.

When the friends walked in this morning, they noticed that the calender was blank, there were zoo animals instead of a forest . One friend also  noticed that the arrow on the weather was brown instead of orange!

Since it is a new school year, Funshine express includes a new themed letter, shape and number background poster , new calender Peices  each month and a new weather chart.

One of things I like this year, that Funshine did not include in the past is word wall. We could print them out , but sometimes that did not work out. I love how they are already to go and ready to hang up song with the word wall banner.  

Today we made Look, it's me mirrors.

Every time the friends would look in the mirror they would say "look, it's me" we made different expressions and observed what our eyes looked like and our face features.

Every month, the kit comes with topic cards. This is the help topic card. It has the Spanish word on the back. We discussed what help meant, what are the children helping with in the picture.

We talked about ways our friends can help each other and our parents and teachers. 

We had a great start to the weekend! 

Island getaway cont.

We have had a great start to the school year.  

We have been enjoying learning about islands and pretending we were at the beach. 

We learned about seashells. We practiced our fine motor skills by lacing yarn in our seashell. 

Funshine express will provide most of the materials when doing creative arts. 

This particular activity was still creative arts, but Funshine express suggests materials for certain activities and the good thing, is looking through and knowing what you will need for that acidity . Funshine provides you a supply list of materials if you wish to do that activity. 

The ocean had been a fun activity to learn about and I thought what better than using water beads for the ocean. Adding sea animals that we learned is providing the perfect opportunity for hands on learning. 

Island getaways

This week and last we have been talking about islands and oceans and sea creatures. 

I first have to say, when starting school after summer breaks can be hard and transitioning to a structure schedule will happen over time. 

So circle time had a been an ongoing learning process. Learning to sit, takes turns speaking and listening. 

 They might not be looking at you,or to sitting  the right way or playing, but one day when play is happening and the kids play circle time and you hear them saying the words we are learning, counting the calender with the pointy stick and then I hear "it's August" exactly how I say it and I make such a big deal out of it because they are listening and looking and it shows . Imaginary play is the best and so much learning can happen.

Ok, on with the fun. 

On Friday we made a beach scene with beach chairs and an umbrella. 

My favorite was Amelia added people to the chairs and just had a conversation. 

Today we made fish with shiney fins. The consensus was it was Dori.

Welcome back

Hi everybody.

Tuesday was our official first day of school and all the friends were so excited to be reunited and enjoyed sharing adventures with each other. 

We started right back with Funshine express. I decided to do fireflies this year because all the friends are older this year.

We started in the middle of the August curriuculm with pesky picnic pests. 

We talked about what kind of bugs may show up at a picnic. 

We thought of foods we may pack in a picnic. 

The friends enjoyed having a picnic and watching out for ants. 

We made a picnic pest picture. 

We reviewed the colors blue and purple .

This week we will be learning about island getaway.
